Highly recommended., 4 April 2015

So, we took a chance on this - and it's turned out great. We were unsure whether we wanted one with a dedicated monitor, or one that works over wi-fi to a phone/tablet. Then this came out, and it does both. So, problem solved.

You can attach up to 4 cameras to the one account/monitor. The picture quality (in normal light) is superb on the phone, the monitor is a little low-res (which is a bit cheeky as the camera is touted as HD-720; the monitor isnt). Night-time, it's pretty decent too and in a pitch-black room we've no problem seeing what he's up to. Frame rate isn't too fast so don't go expecting anything other than a jerky picture.

Registering the app to the device is quite clever - I expected all kinds of hoops to go through getting it on the house wi-fi, but it sets up a temporary hotspot which the apps then connects the phone to, and all your wi-fi details are then entered through that. Impressive and pretty good if you're not technical !

Great baby monitoring system, 18 May 2015

Clearly there are different levels of paranoia that a baby monitor can induce. Breathing detectors, microphones, temperature sensors, are increasingly now all standard fare (while presumably our parents left us in cardboard boxes and their parents just left them in a bucket outside). For our part we didn't just want the somewhat binary "screaming lungs out" vs. "sleeping like an actual baby", we wanted to know what was going on with each gurgle, splutter, coo, and squeak. And after all, if there's one thing you should always do to the people you love it's surrounding them with fully networked 360 degree tracking night vision cameras, right? My parole officer disagrees, but I digress.

The package comes with a camera (quiet motor, great range of motion, sturdy base, plugs into the wall socket power supply) and a display unit (think little PDA with a stand and an antenna with buttons round the side rather than a touchscreen), which also has a wired power...

Hidden Subscription Charges, 20 Dec. 2015
Started off really impressed with this product until 60 days after we had started to use when it became apparent that we were expected to subscribe to a service to receive notifications of movement/sound in our sons room, a service that was advertised as a standard selling point of this unit at no extra cost. That amplified with the terrible connection from the handset and/or mobile device you view on and the interference created on your home wifi/network.....save yourself some money - buy a webcam and make sure access is super secure on your own network, you won't be any worse off and at least you can set it up to capture stills etc via your computer/laptop.
