Fisher-Price Smart Stages Toolbox is available in Activity Centres
It's hammer time! The Laugh & Learn Smart Stages Toolbox lets baby hammer away at role play fun while hearing songs, words and phrases in English and French! When baby pounds the 3 light-up shape pegs with the rattle-bead hammer, he's introduced to colors, numbers and shapes. Opening and closing the toolbox lid teaches baby about opposites. Baby can spin the roller for fun sounds & songs Ð and move the slide ruler for number & counting fun. And theres an easy-carry handle, so your little do-it-yourselfer can keep working on-the-go! Suitable for ages 6 months +

This has been tested by an 18mth old, quite rough, little boy. He loves it and has so far been unable to break it.
It comes with batteries, always a winner in my book, it is bright and looks good. It is also sturdy, something a lot of toys lack these days. The casing is bright and cheerful and the buttons inside are clear and colourful.
This has three modes, we have had it in the second and third, learning and imaginative. The learning setting provides the colours and shapes spoken to the child when pressed, not dissimilar from other toys in the Fisher price range. There is a plastic hammer which can be used to hit the shapes (or your big sister!). Overall it's a lovely toy for a growing little boy. It also plays music, randomly!
So my reason for giving it the five stars is based on ability to let child learn and for it being a good sturdy toy.
My only issue with it, is not the toy per se, it's the woman's voice that is on the setting, oh my...

This is the second item that I have tried in the Fisher Price Smart Stages range, and I've been impressed with both of them and the clever staged learning approach.
This toolbox is made from bright, cheerful looking plastic with an opening and closing lid, a carry handle and a plastic hammer - perfect for a little one who loves banging things, building things or trying to get involved in DIY! There are three coloured 'bolts' in different shapes that can be banged with the hammer, and there are a roller and a ruler for added fun and learning. All three of these activities cause different words and songs to be played depending on the stage of your child. If the box is turned to stage one, then the bolts will say their shape when tapped; at stage two they will say their colour in both English and French, and at stage three they encourage imaginative play and responses by emitting phrases such as 'I love to hammer, what about you?' I have some reservations about the usefulness...

Fisher Price have made another excellent educational toy here. This tool box is suitable for 6 months + right up to 18 months + because it has several age ranges programmed into it. You simply set the switch position to the right one for your child and the music, numbers, colours and tasks will be tailored for your child's developmental stage.
My son is 8 months so we are using the 6 months + setting at the moment, which has little songs and sound effects and says the shape and colour of the different pegs when they get hit with the hammer (when I do it) or get pressed down (when my son manages to bash it with his hand). The toolbox also says 'open' and 'closed' when you use the lid.
The build quality is excellent as you'd expect from Fisher Price and it should be able to withstand some pretty rough play - you are supposed to hit the pegs with the hammer, of course, so it needs to be built tough.
And although this is a toolbox, I'd say that it's by no...
