This item took a while to fit but we have awkward stairs in our house. You need to make sure that you have a straight edge on you stair rail and not a rounded shape which we have. I have mine fitted at the top of the stairs where, fortunately, the stair rail was straight. It opens easily and rests against the wall when not in use which is perfect. There's no irritating bar across the bottom to trip over and that fact alone would encourage me to recommend to others. Make sure you measure before you buy as I needed the extension for the sake of about an inch difference.

This gate arrived very quickly complete with instructions. I had bought 2 gates with a view to having one on the stairs and the other between rooms. The instructions have few words but the pictures are great. Easily constructed and fitted to the wall. The bracket position is fixed by the paper templates and made the whole thing very easy. There is no step or part of the gate to trip you up so very safe for the user. It easily fits wide gaps. Would buy this again and recommend to friends
