This is well made and heavier than some of the guards on offer. It is also more stylish (if a guard can ever be regarded as such). It can be placed free standing and works like that but, if you want wall mounting, a kit is supplied. Yes, I am pretty happy with it.Richard

Very pleased with this purchase.We have a multifuel fire which sits away from the wall and was not suitable for most standard fireguards, but this works very well. The XL is just the right side to put a safe circumference around the whole thing protecting out ever reaching little one from the heat. Material is of good quality and delivery was fast.Comes with plastic wall fittings which seem good enough. Due to renting I did not want to damage walls though and have simply stuck it in place using the Command picture hanging strips! Little one has ben hanging of the guard and no movement has occured so frame is pretty sturdy.Coulour matches fire so doesn't look too intrusive but safety is more important anyway.

I would have given the gate itself 5 stars, but the pictorial instructions - which is what passes for the installation instructions - are abysmal. I am a practical person (I once built a real GRP kit aeroplane) but these diagrams were small and completely fathomless. I spent a good hour, using trial and error, figuring out how the whole kit went together. Just not good enough in this day and age! Even the Parts list is wanting: you are told to look for 4 metal rods, but there is only 3 in the box. Only later do you figure out that one rod is incorporated in the structures supplied. A real let-down to what is otherwise a very good and very flexible gate structure, capable of fitting most spaces.
